Rush Hour

The sustainability-focused transportation board game to improve players' understanding of the impacts that different transportation methods have on the earth, themselves, and others.
Using gamification as a tool to educate and motivate
As a final project in my Transportation design class while studying in Copenhagen, we were tasked with creating a game that aims to somehow engage others in the serious role that good transportation design and use can have on our environment. In teams of three, we collaborated and used research, experiential learning, usability testing and an iterative design approach to create "Rush Hour - Copenhagen Edition." This game shows the benefits of both more environmentally transportation methods and how well designed and invested transportation design can improve your everyday life.

------------
How the game works
This game is based off of Sorry, and follows similar rules. “Rush Hour” is meant to model a commute in Copenhagen from a person’s home to work using different modes of transportation. Getting multiple people in a company to work involves many modes of transportation and the game models the advantages and drawbacks of each of these transportation methods. The scenarios are based on real life challenges that commuters face and the associated speeds are calculated by taking into account the scenarios’ impact on commute time.
